FORWARD

When I was 26, my then 4-year-old son Lukas and I traveled to the Philippines for two months. We met Mia, Ning Ning, Norah, and a lot of other amazing people. This trip marked the beginning of a lifelong friendship with Mia; she feels like my sister, and we are still best friends.

 

I believe the trip changed me in several ways. One thing I felt was how fortunate we are in Sweden and that I wanted to give back. We have free schooling, healthcare, and a host of other benefits that others can only dream of. I feel that with the security I have, I can help others who do not have the same rights and opportunities.

 

Now I want to pass it on to others through You Create Us. To start with, 10 kronor from each sold poetry book "Slå följe med Gud" (Walk with God) will go to Act Swedish Church, for their important work in many parts of the world.

 

I also have a dream of starting my own organization to support women in vulnerable parts of the world. I want to be able to help people who are not reached by the large organizations. If you have ideas and thoughts about this, please feel free to contact me.

 

What was so fantastic about the trip to the Philippines was meeting and getting to know the people who lived there. Here, Mia and I are roller skating and clearly having a lot of fun.
